The Atlantic ocean perch are not a true perch, but really a rockfish. They are slow growing fish that have been overfished in past years. Because they mature slowly the stocks are slow to replenish themselves. The fish is also called the redfish. It usually grows to .5 to 1.3 kg (1 to 3 lbs). This fish was caught off the coast of Maine.
